How we keep the guides current, and what "checked on" means
Every legal guide on this site carries the date it was last checked against the law. Here is what that date means, what we check it against, and what happens when the law moves.

The date on every guide
Each guide says "Checked against the law on …". That is the date a person last read the guide against the current legislation and Government guidance for England and confirmed the text. It is not the date the page was edited for style, and it is not automatic.
What we check against
- The Act itself on legislation.gov.uk, including commencement regulations.
- Government guidance on GOV.UK for landlords and tenants.
- Deposit scheme rules (mydeposits, TDS, DPS) for the deposit guides.
- Enforcement guidance for the certificate guides (Gas Safe, the electrical safety regulations, EPC rules).
We do not take facts from other companies' blogs. Where a guide relies on a source we link it under "Where this comes from".
When the law moves
- The guide text is changed and its date updated.
- A law watch post is published with the change, the date it applies from, and the source.
- The dates the audit and the tenant check use are updated at the same time, so the checks and the reading match.
Brands that run their own version of this site can edit any guide; the platform's own text is restored with one click if they prefer.
What the guides are not
Information about English law, not legal advice. For a possession case, an eviction notice, or a dispute, we point you to a solicitor, a landlord association, Shelter or Citizens Advice, and the platform never refers you to a lawyer for a fee.
